History

In 1969 Peter Harrington began selling books from the Chelsea Antiques Market on London’s King’s Road. In 1997 we moved to much larger premises on the Fulham Road, still in Chelsea, where we have more than 20,000 volumes spread over four floors. Peter passed away and the business is now run by his son, Pom Harrington.

In 1989 we established Old Church Galleries, which offers a wide selection of rare maps and prints, ranging from early printed material to 21st-century artists, at 98 Fulham Road, next door to the bookshop.

In 2000 we founded The Chelsea Bindery, where we have some of the finest binders in the world producing fine bindings and boxes for both ourselves and our customers.
