First Edition. A formidable piece of book production reproducing works by 20 Scottish painters associated with the Glasgow School. The reproductions were executed by J. Craig Annan to his customary high standard but perhaps as interesting are the specially commissioned portraits of each of the artists, printed by Annan in photogravure at the beginning of each section. There are introductions about the artists and the movement itself with brief biographies of each man. Rare - no copy at auction for 23 years.

Folio. Original blue linen, titles to upper board and spine gilt. With 54 reproductions in photogravure by J. Craig Annan. Hinges cracked but firm, cloth just a little marked here and there, spine slightly faded. An exceptional copy.
