First Edition. With the photographer’s signed presentation inscription on the half title page, “a Ruta / avec mon affection / Henri”. The recipient was Ruta Sadoul wife of the writer and critic George Sadoul and founder of the cinematic prize bearing his name with which Cartier-Bresson was associated in his final years. The Sadouls had been intimate friends of the photographer for decades. Presentation copies of this recently deceased master of photography are very uncommon. Particularly on his photographic publications.
