Basil Seal Rides Again

First Edition, Signed Limited Edition. With the author’s presentation, “For Pamela Onslow Christmas 1963 from Evelyn Waugh”. This special edition on hand made paper consisted of 750 numbered copies each signed by the author. Waugh had arranged for 50 copies to behis for presentation but was dismayed to find there to be no half title page had been included. He insisted that 50 or so such leaves were printed and bound into his personal copies. Thus creating a distinc bibiographic entity. The recipient was Auberon Waugh’s mother-in-law.

4to. Original blue cloth, titles to spine gilt, pictorial decoration to upper board gilt, top edge gilt, otehrs untrimmed. In the original unprinted acetate dustjacket. With a colour frontispiece by Kathleen Hale. Boards a little marked, spine a touch faded but an excellent copy in the original though rather worn plain acetate jacket.
